Influence of Interoduction of Christianity on Korea¡¯s Modern Education On the center of Protestentism

Abstract
The spreading of Christianity in Korea has developed missionary enterprises through educational activities, and the establishement of mission schools greatly contributed to the education of modern period. The results are as follows:
First, education is made practical. The Educational Plan of King Go-Jong stressed the practical sides of the daily life. Second, education is rendered universal. The fact has become the critical basic of educational democratijation, causing national enlightenment as a means of constructing a wealthy nation. With the result that if presented women and deformed children with equal opportunities to receive education. Third, education is the foundation of a nation. In this point, technical education is considered important and thus the instruction of Mother Tongue and National History has been emphasized that every technician may false pride in his nation. Fourth, education has played a foremost role in bringing forth the wisdom of leading an actual life rather than the noble and the wise. And not the Oriental classics but modern education introduced new materials for actual life and scientific methods. It contributed to introduce strenuous works, original innovation, and empirical methodology in the field of educational approach. In conclusion, the mission schools under the spirit of Christianity have been the core of the spreading of Christian Good Tidings and the foundation of modernization and democratization of Korea.
